Comments from JAK: This all looks good. A larger discussion is beginning about increasing art history in the 8th grade curriculum, in collaboration with the 8th grade history course. The hope is that the 8th grade history course will also take on a more global focus. I know you often change projects in Fine Arts courses; just be sure that your maps reflect the changes that you make from year to year. It appears that a lot of your work involves project management and time mangagement; you might notice that in the grade level meetings, especially in the 6th, 7th, 9th, and 11th grades, there was much discussion and concern expressed about students ability to manage time and work independently. Perhaps there are some ways that--through the mangagement of projects in fine arts--these kinds of issues could be addressed and/or reinforced; or at least the skills of managing a project in fine arts might be connected to making a study plan for a particular unit or the process of writing an essayu? Just a thought. I love the idea of using podcasts, and hopefully next year we will be able to do more with publishing on the web, whether we publish audio files of podcasts, or other kinds of work.
